"Slight Edge" Presentation by Dan Sedor on April 3rd

Significant improvements often happen as a result of subtle changes within organizations. Most of us relate these changes to the physical or mechanical systems we use on a daily basis to perform our job functions. Often overlooked are the changes related to our interactions with people. When leaders do the little things well, it has a significant positive impact on the organization's culture. What impacts the culture, impacts the way things get done - with clients, other departments, and each other.

Building Blocks of Excellence

On April 5, 2007, the United Way of Lincoln and Lancaster County hosted a special event entitled Building Blocks of Excellence for the top 30 contributing organizations. The funds provided by these organizations to the United Way, help address the following areas in our community:

  • Hunger and homelessness (basic and emergency needs);
  • Youth outreach and development;
  • Family violence;
  • Behavioral health.

  • Leadership Resources was brought in to conduct an energetic, customized workshop to tap into the participants' passion to make a difference, build relationships within the community, and identify 2 or more ideas each participant is committed to acting upon. When these ideas are implemented, they can increase the % participation and average giving amount from individuals within these top 30 organizations, which enhances our community in the four areas noted above.

Beyond conducting customized events, Leadership Resources also provides results-oriented processes such as strategic planning, strategic development (for leaders and key people with an organization), and assessment tools.
